Agency Description

Concept

Prevention Pathways is committed to providing information and education associated with problems that come from the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. We believe every child needs a safe, healthy, caring environment to become a happy, responsible, contributing member of its community.

History/Background

In recognition of the Nebraska Family Policy Act of 1987, the Family Action Community Team (FACT), a multidisciplinary group, was formed in the spring of 1988 to address the preservation of families in the Norfolk community. FACT encourages interagency coordination and active community involvement by all citizens and supports and promotes implementing prevention and early intervention programs and services.

One outgrowth of FACT is Parent Connection, a program of Prevention Pathways (formerly PROJECT ACCESS). Prevention Pathways is a public, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation providing prevention education and information on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues affecting the citizens of Northern Nebraska. The agency is funded in part by donations; the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and the Federal Government. It serves as the administering agency for Parent Connection.
