Agency Description

Concept

N.E.T.W.O.R.K. Inc. is a culturally diverse prevention leadership concept. It is a collaboration of parents and community based resources that will structure, monitor, and consume the time of young people who are at risk of negative consequences because they and/or their families may lack healthy and appropriate problem solving skills or resources. Because task completion and time structured activities are a foundation in the management of behavior of young people, this concept can provide direction and support that families and young people need to be productive and successful in their communities and schools.

N.E.T.W.O.R.K. serves the Omaha community by providing positive cultural specific and culturally diverse learning experiences for promoting and establishing personal/cultural okayness.

Program Focus

The program focuses on six areas needed to create a positive environment for youth and communities of color.

Community

Employment

Family

Social Development

Education

Health

The program offers three components to address these areas:
Community Connection Plus
Youth Alternatives
Young Ambassadors

These components are discussed under Programs and Services.

Program Significance

This program helps youth and families by

Educating the community on substance use prevention and risky behaviors
Training the community to identify inappropriate behaviors and how to actively resolve them
Developing Positive Change in communities through increased awareness of community members' roles and responsibilities
Offering Drug Free Activities to youth
Providing Therapeutic Activities to youth and families

Outcomes

Youth will have positive cultural specific and culturally diverse learning experiences for promoting and establishing personal/cultural okayness.

Families and youth can establish spiritual values, ethics, and moral standards through influential activities that develop and reinforce healthy community policies and standards.
The project is not designed to promote any specific religious belief, but rather to:
establish attitudes that build inter-strength
find hope when there appears to be no hope
provide alternatives to risky behaviors
promote and establish personal/cultural okayness
