Agency Description Concept N.E.T.W.O.R.K. Inc. is a culturally diverse prevention leadership concept. It is a collaboration of parents and community based resources that will structure, monitor, and consume the time of young people who are at risk of negative consequences because they and/or their families may lack healthy and appropriate problem solving skills or resources. Because task completion and time structured activities are a foundation in the management of behavior of young people, this concept can provide direction and support that families and young people need to be productive and successful in their communities and schools. N.E.T.W.O.R.K. serves the Omaha community by providing positive cultural specific and culturally diverse learning experiences for promoting and establishing personal/cultural okayness. Volunteers DO YOU LIKE TO HELP CHILDREN? We are currently recruiting Tutors and Mentors for the upcoming session. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the Program Director at 402.595.1376 for more information. Funding N.E.T.W.O.R.K. is currently funded by: the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services - Governor's Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Grant, Tobacco Free Nebraska Program, HIV Prevention Grant, and the Nebraska Crime Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. N.E.T.W.O.R.K. has also received corporate donations from Creighton St. Joseph, PHO Inc., State Farm Insurance, Battaglia Insurance, U.S. West Foundation, Woodman of the World Fraternal Lodge, and various private donations. Nebraska SPRING Through Nebraska SPRING, N.E.T.W.O.R.K. can access the Parent Information and Resource Center (PIRC). The PIRC includes the Family Resource Line and access to the Early Childhood Training Center Media Center. The Media Center's numerous and varied materials are available on a free-loan basis. Programs & Services COMMUNITY CONNECTION PLUS This Prevention Component is structured to address concerns regarding risky behaviors of alcohol tobacco, other drugs, and HIV/AIDS. Community awareness forums are available throughout the year to offer various prevention workshops. Career development programs are available for youth and adults needing job readiness skills. COMMUNITY CONNECTION PLUS is a culturally diverse prevention leadership concept. It is a collaboration of parents and community based resources that will structure, monitor, and consume the time of young people who are at risk of negative consequences because they and/or their families may lack healthy and appropriate problem solving skills or resources. Because task completion and time structured activities are a foundation in the management of behavior of young people, this concept can provide direction and support that families and young people need to be productive and successful in their communities and schools. This is an after school program offered Monday - Friday from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. The program is structured to meet the needs of students age 6 - 16. Transportation is provided from school and a nutritious meal and snack are provided daily. YOUTH ALTERNATIVES This Education and Therapeutic Component is structured to meet the needs of students requiring additional academic assistance, or a youth currently attending an Individual Study Center, experiencing short term suspension, or facing the possibility of dropping out of school. Certified teachers are available to assist with individual study plans. Also, certified therapists specializing in childhood development are available to provide culturally diverse mental health therapy. YOUTH ALTERNATIVES is structured to meet the needs of students age 6 - 18. This is an after school program offered Monday - Friday from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. Youth and their families can participate in the following structured activities:
YOUNG AMBASSADORS This Leadership Component is structured to empower youth to serve their community by encouraging their peers to be productive, positive, and lead healthy lifestyles. Youth are selected to be members of the Youth Advisory Committee, participate in community service projects, organize and conduct neighborhood clean-ups, and sponsor youth activities and events.
