Academy of Rock |
|
The Academy of Rock was created straight
from the minds of bored middle school students with nothing to
do and no where to go. Tired of picking "Smoke on the
Water" for the hundredth time, they made a simple wish.
They wanted a place where they could go to learn how to play
some rock'n'roll. From this idea, the Northeast Family Center
quickly teamed up with the Dietze Music House and School of Rock
was formed. What began as an after school program teaching kids
how to play songs by Green Day, AC/DC, and the White Stripes has
quickly grown into a program with community wide support. With
instructors and volunteers straight from the Lincoln music
scene, and equipment such as guitars, basses, and amps
generously donated
to the program by Dietze Music and Music-go-Round, the Academy of Rock program is quickly
becoming one of the most exciting youth programs in Lincoln.
Now, the Academy of Rock is open to all
Lincoln area Middle School students. Why
is music important? Click here to read |

Have you ever wanted to be in a band?
Write
your own songs? Play live shows? Record an album? Film a music video?
Design a Concert T-Shirt? Melt Faces with mind numbing guitar
solos? Of course you have. That's why your checking out this
web site. The Academy of Rock will teach you what it takes to
seriously rock. Each class is designed to teach our students how to be
in a band. Whether you've just picked up an instrument for the first
time or have been playing for years, the Academy of Rock allows
students to move at their own pace. |
|
Stage One starts with forming a band, learning to play a cover
song and perform it live in front of an audience.
Stage Two will focus on original song writing, recording a
single, and playing a live set.
Stage Three is for advanced students who can play 6 or more
original songs. Bands will record an album, play an extended live set,
and begin promoting their music through video, t-shirts, and graphic
design. That's Rock N Roll. |
