Agency Description

Concept

The Dakota County Interagency Team (DCIT) recognizes that the most significant catalyst for change necessary to improve the community is to partner community leaders and residents to coordinate an effective delivery system for Dakota County.

History/Background

1989 — Initial gathering of providers, school officials, government and elected officials
1990 — Officially formed DCIT
1993 — Incorporated as a nonprofit in the State of Nebraska
1996 — Signed HHS Partnership Agreement

Mission Statement

To foster a means of communication and collaboration so that integrated and complimentary strategies can be provided.

Goals

The goal of the Dakota County Interagency Team is to improve the lives of all community residents. DCIT believes that programs and services work best when they are comprehensive and integrated, flexibly responsive to a wide variety of needs.

Strategy

The current strategy provides:

  • Holistic vs. categorical strategies;
  • Targets ages 0-99+ (prenatal to death);
  • Utilizes the co-location and integration of programs and services within neighborhoods;
  • Recognizes the differences of neighborhoods/communities to allow for different strategies and implementation schedules;
  • Governed by a pre-determined set of outcomes;
  • Utilizes input from community through focus and planning groups; and
  • Includes all communities of Dakota County.
