Agency Description Mission Statement The Columbus Collaborative Team exists to coordinate information and resources to address the current and emerging needs of the Columbus area. Purpose The CCT is an umbrella agency that provides a vehicle to identify and address existing and future needs of the Columbus area. The principal purposes for which this organization and its Task Forces have been formed are as follows:
History/Background The Columbus Collaborative Team (CCT) was formed in the spring of 1990 to improve accessibility, visibility and availability of services through networking and linkages between resources and families. CCT has since become a coalition of key leadership agencies and organizations providing resources, education and networking for youth and families. CCT is incorporated and has received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and is a United Way agency. With respect for varying philosophies, participating organizations recognize families' ability to choose services and are sensitive to their cultural, ethnic and religious background. Task Forces The Columbus Area United Way and CCT completed a needs assessment survey in 1999. Recently, five task forces have been organized to address priorities. The task forces include a broad spectrum of participants from public and private agencies and community-based organizations. The task forces are most important to CCT because it is here that projects are actually put together and completed. The five current task forces under CCT are:

Nebraska SPRING Through Nebraska SPRING, the Columbus Collaborative Team (CCT) can access the Parent Information and Resource Center (PIRC). The PIRC includes the Family Resource Line and access to the Early Childhood Training Center Media Center. The Media Center's numerous and varied materials are available on a free-loan basis. Community Connections Program In addition to the above support, Columbus Collaborative Team (CCT) is one of four parent/community demonstration projects funded by Nebraska SPRING through the Department of Education Parent Information and Resource Center program. These funds provide partial support to the Community Connections Program (CCP). Community Connections Program (CCP) is a combined effort of.
Together these three agencies are working to help you choose services to meet your needs. These services help your children grow in a healthy, happy way and do well in school. Community Connections Program (CCP) is really three programs in one: Parent Liaison. The Parent Liaison at Sunrise Elementary School is a part-time staff person. This person helps you, the teachers, and the principal all work together so your child succeeds in school. The Parent Liaison helps you with:
Sunrise Elementary also offers a Resource Center with books and videos so you can learn more about families and being a parent. Platte Valley Literacy Association (PVLA). PVLA holds English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at Sunrise Elementary School and at the Columbus Public Library. Classes and childcare at Sunrise make it easier to find the time to learn English and be more a part of the school and community. PVLA also offers Citizenship Classes at the Columbus Public Library. The staff there will help you with the application and to study for the English and United States government and history tests. Family Resource Materials. Columbus Collaborative Team and the Columbus Public Library worked together to add a special Family Resource Section at the library. You can find books, videos and other materials there to help you be a good teacher for your child. How do I sign up for the Community Connections Programs?
